The company was founded by Blake Mycoskie who was inspired and determined after a trip to Argentina where he saw dozens of children set back by not having any footwear. The shoe donations - or drops - occur both in the United States and abroad. For instance, shoes will be donated to children in New Orleans before the start of the school year. They will be white canvas shoes, and the kids will be encourage to draw on and design them to give them some character of their own.
